Diggaz Love Lab Offs pt7 - 'Total Vocal Focal'

Boom, 2010 and it's time to get back on the grind with our projects etc. For Lab Off pt 7 the talented Dan Bull has challenged us with four samples to flip. The difference from past Lab Offs is that he's given us four vocals samples *which I'm playing as I type this* and I have to say there are lots of usable parts, but I'll let you call it.

As usual you can take parts from one sample, combined them, as well as use additional sounds from vst's, synths and even other samples. But the main sample has to have came from at least one of the tracks provided.

Funky DL 'Back To Frank' (Amy Winehouse flip)

This is an excellent project, DL basically flipped Amy Winehouse's 'Frank' album. This is genuis right from the title 'Back To Frank' all the way through to the outro. The funky one not only samples the music but he has various vocal parts included as a part of the each songs concept or as a chorus. After my listen I had to go and give the man his props, especially after hearing 'But That's Not Me' which my favorite at the moment. DL tells me "..tried to do something creative, but leave it open to everyones imagination what the scenario is or ends up to be". I say he did just that.

Aesthetics Vol 1 - Cav Johnson and Jae Fresh

Cav Johnson (New York) and Jae Fresh (Brighton Beach) bridge the gap over the water and make a connection to bless us all with some classic golden era style Hip Hop. These two make one of my fav duo's and this project does nothing to change that. The only bad thing I can say bout this project is that they never put their song 'Avenues' on the playlist which is a favorite of mine. None the less, this project is a nice listen and a very short download for the classic Hip Hop lovers.

Gadget kicks starts 2010 in fine style with this remix project as he remakes some of his favorite tracks and artists while bringing a Jazz, Soul, Classical etc fusion. This EP boasts skills on the boards as we witness a demonstration of compositional abilities on the Edo G & JaySaun ‘Pay The Price’ remix and we hear a straight up sample flip on Gadget’s very well respected M.O.P vs Inspector Gadget ‘Ante Up’ remix where the man takes the Inspector Gadget theme tune and works his magic to create a hardcore remix of the M.O.P classic. And it doesn’t end there either…
